The story of the process of creating Keycap buttons
>> Idea sketch: come up with an idea, and we will visualize the product details. The entire character consists of how many elements, and how different angles will be included.
>> Prototyping or 3D design: When we decided to mass-produce keycaps, we studied 3D printing and learned how to use the help of new technology. So after we have a detailed sketch, we will make a model on the computer. The more detailed we do at this stage, the easier it is to make keycaps later.
>> Processes to create colorless keycaps: The basic shape of the keycap is 3D printed, then the 3D printed sample is washed with a special solution and illuminated the model under a UV lamp.
>> Create colors for the keycap: we proceed to paint the base coat for the keycap. Then the artists will apply many layers of color, from large color patches to small color details 0.1mm
>> Finishing the product: We will pour the plastic into the product. After the resin dries, we put it into a high-speed grinder to make the surface smooth and clear. Finally, check each completed keycap and put it in the box
Each required stage is performed by skilled artisans with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience.
The story of the artists from Break Wooden
Our original intention was to come up with a name to refer to the special members, we called ourselves incomplete pieces of wood, but since the brothers didn’t speak English at the time, we came up with his rather poor English name: Break Wooden.
By the time a friend reminded us of the wrong thing, it was too late. Break Wooden was mentioned and remembered by friends around the world, and we tacitly accepted that interesting fact.
“Break Wooden” starts with 4-5 disabled brothers. We now do the first experiment since 2016 and it took quite a few years to master the necessary techniques.
Find our passion, live it, and pass it on to other like-minded people – it’s the most complete summary of what we do at Break Wooden. You can come up with a very beautiful product and it will be copied after a while, but they cannot “copy” the spirit of Break Wooden.
We seek to contact and gather brothers in many parts of Vietnam. We build dormitories so that other students can live and work on the spot because most of us have a hard time commuting.
